Superbon has signalled he is ready to come to America and fight ONE Championship featherweight Muay Thai king Tawanchai PK Saenchai in Atlanta on November 8.
The 34-year-old Thai knocked out Jo Nattawut in Friday’s main event at Lumpinee Stadium, which could feasibly see him replace his compatriot at ONE 169.
Nattawut, who lives and trains in the capital of Georgia, was badly hurt and could now be ruled out by a medical suspension, with the event just six weeks away.
“Yeah of course, I’m going to love it because I have waited for a rematch with Tawanchai,” Superbon told the Bangkok Post after his win.
“I can fight anywhere. It’s up to the boss. I would love to go to America. I have a lot of fans in America. I’m going to go back into training camp right away, because I did not get any injuries.”
Superbon, who lost a unanimous decision to Tawanchai in a five-round classic last December, needed just 102 seconds to finish Nattawut in Bangkok.
The interim featherweight kickboxing champion got the job done with two razor sharp elbows in the first round at ONE Friday Fights 81. The first cut Nattawut above his right eye, and the second landed on his left temple, sending him down to the canvas.
“Of course, this is the game plan, because Jo has good hands – elbows can stop the people with good hands,” Superbon added. “Normally I want it to go a bit longer, but I didn’t expect I would knock him out with the elbow. I expected to knock him out with a head kick.”
Even though his trademark head kick – which he has used to knock out Giorgio Petrosyan and Tayfun Ozcan in ONE – did not do the trick this time, Superbon still picked up a US$50,000 performance bonus.
CEO Chatri Sityodtong was clearly impressed, given the bonuses are usually capped at 350,000 baht on ONE Friday Fights cards.
“I have to thank the boss,” Superbon said.
